4/22/2010 City Market

The streets were wet this morning when we woke up . . . it obviously rained last night. But there is intermittent sunshine as we head out to City Market. We found a great parking spot by the park in the middle of town.

The market was cute. Not as big as many that we've both seen but cute, clean, and colorful. There was a mix of items for locals (the butcher shop had fresh cuts of meat sitting out not wrapped in plastic) and items for tourists (Christmas ornaments made from Bay of Fundy red clay with an apology that they weren't made in Taiwan or China). Karen found a shop that had handmade soaps with an olive oil base and she stocked up on soaps for some of her friends back home--nice souvenirs.

Yours truly here forgot to pack the power cord to her laptop. The desk clerk at the hotel suggested we go to "The Source"--a Radio-Shack type store in an indoor mall connected to City Market via a pedestrian tunnel. We went there, but the clerk there said they don't carry that item. He recommended a store right outside the mall called Appleby's. They had what I needed! I was going to buy a second cable anyway, so it wasn't that bad of a deal, but I never expected to buy one in Canada.

From there, we went back to the car. On the way it dawned on me and I asked Karen, "Did you put any money in the parking meter? Because I didn't?" As we approached the car, we could see the man in charge of checking the meters. And he was walking away from our car at that moment. We were very fortunate, it's only a $15 ticket.

Here is my laptop plugged into Karen's converter that plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car. It's convoluted, but it works!! My laptop has power!
