June 4-7, 2007: St. Louis

This was a business trip for GoKnow. I gave three one-day workshops in Jennings, MO. I worked with Stacey (from MO) and Tiffany (from MI). Hey, if I'm from Maine, then the 3 of us were all from "M" states! The workshops were a lot of work but a lot of fun and quite successful. Yea!

Wednesday night Stacey, Tiffany, and I went to Pujols 5 Restaurant for dinner. Embarrassingly enough, I had no idea who Albert Pujols was. But I quickly learned and of course, he was on the news that night for hitting the game-winning home run. I'm certain I'll hear his name over and over again for the next couple of years as I make up for the social blunder of being so ignorant.

The food was excellent. I ordered a pork chop with a peach/jalapeno chutney. I wasn't too sure if it'd be good or not, but it sounded interesting. When it came, it was beyond interesting. It was delicious. It was supposed to come with a vegetable medley and yukon gold mashed potatoes. I L O V E mashed potatoes!! Stacey ordered the same thing. When dinner was served, hers came with mashed potatoes and mine came with vegetable medley but that was all. We asked and it turned out that they had run out of potatoes and were making a new batch. mmmmmm yummy! okay by me!

Our waitress brought a big bowl of vegetable medley for Stacey but the potatoes still weren't ready. She came back by and refilled our drinks, but still no potatoes. We had been talking about creme broulet for dessert ever since we saw it on the menu when we first walked in. After a while, when the waitress came back yet again to say the potatoes were still being fixed and did I still want them, we told her that we thought they should give us free creme broulet because of the inconvenience of the potatoes. She said it sounded reasonable to her but she was going to have to tell her manager that we were really irate before he would give her permission. We reassured her that indeed we were irate . Pretty soon, here comes mashed potatoes . . . enough to feed 4 people, probably. And here comes the free creme broulet with 3 spoons. I let Stacey and Tiffany eat the creme broulet and I had mashed potatoes for dessert. I was a very happy camper. :-)

Initial Musings

I set this blog up when I opened my blogger account in January 2007. However, my biggest travels from January until now have been my adventures in Maine and that got its very own blog account. So, this blog has been sitting empty, waiting patiently, for my next adventure in traveling.

Here we go!
