Next stop: Holiday Inn Express. We checked in, settled in, and then headed to Church Street Steak House for dinner. We had picked out three from various lists that we had read and then asked the clerk at our hotel about all three of them. The first one was out of business, the second one he had never heard of, and the third one had the finest steaks in all of Saint John's. He couldn't guarantee anything else on the menu, but he knew the steaks were good.
Karen got New York strip, I got ribeye. They both proved the desk clerk right. Dinner was yummy.
After dinner we drove around town through all kinds of neighborhoods. Even drove through a police road block. The car in front of us had a conversation with the officer but we got waved on through. We drove three times over the toll bridge before we figured out that you could cross the water via a different route that went right by our motel. We did enjoy giving the toll attendants the opportunity to say, "Oh those American tourists!"
