From the LBJ Ranch it wasn't very far to go to Fredericksburg. Mother and I found Clear River Pecan Co. which is a soda fountain/bakery/deli. Oh what a yummy lunch!!
Then we explored the town. It's so cute and quaint and old fashioned!! This is definitely a place to come back to.
Admiral Chester Nimitz was born in Fredericksburg. They've turned his grandfather's hotel into a museum and have built a big National Museum of the Pacific War. Wow. The museum was wonderful...very informative...we'll have to come back for this, too, as we didn't have time to see it all. Admiral Nimitz is definitely bigger than life.
We also got a bus tour of Fredericksburg from a local who knew the history of the town and of almost every house. He was terrific and so much fun.
