Guenther House and Pioneer Flour Mills (12/23/2014)

Carl Hilmar Guenther immigrated to the US in 1848. He eventually built a flour mill in San Antonio (which later was renamed Pioneer Flour Mills) and in 1860 built a house for his family. The flour company is still in business.

The home is now part museum, part restaurant, part gift shop.

Every year they have a gingerbread house built that is a model of the house. This year's builder was Shirley Odgen. It took 200 hours and 100 pounds of candy.

This year, inside the gingerbread house is a dining room outfitted to look like the real dining room, including a tiny gingerbread house on the dining room table.

Beautiful Christmas decorations and a fascinating chandelier.

I think there's just one Patricia sighting in this entry, unless you count the one where I cropped her out.
