"Sunrise" in Jackson (1/8/2015)

There's a classic shot of the Grand Tetons that you can take less than 10 miles north of Jackson. It's sunrise over the "Morman Barn" with the Tetons in the background. We knew there was the possibility of fog, but we decided to go for it anyway. We would think of it as a "scouting trip" if all else failed. The fog was a "frozen fog" (look that one up in your weather encyclopedia...we still don't understand it) and it was thick as any fog could be.

We actually made it to the location of the Morman Barn, but this (see photo) is where we should've seen the orange house that is the landmark and then you walk 150 yards beyond that to get to the barn. Since we couldn't even see the orange house, we decided to just head back to town and leave with some GPS coordinates for the next time.

So we stopped at The Bunnery Bakery and Restaurant back in Jackson and treated ourselves to a great breakfast. I had a giant hot chocolate...

...and the Gros Ventre Slide (named for the Gros Ventre Native American people located in north central Montana). Green chilies (hidden under the egg) and cheddar cheese melted over two fried eggs and hash browns, garnished with sour cream with a side of their homemade O.S.M. toast. A great way to end a scouting trip. I may not be in New Mexico, but I can keep the green chile count going!
